Resolution No.(85) by the Board of Iftaa`, Research and Islamic Studies:

“Ruling on Exemption from the Rent of an Endowed Estate“

Date: 26/2/1426 AH, corresponding to 6/4/2005 AD.

 

 

 

 

Question:

What is the ruling of Sharia on the request submitted by the Committee of Mosques and Charitable Projects in which it seeks to be exempted from the rent due on the basement of Abulkasim`s Mosque, which it uses as a rehabilitation centre for the Jordanian young women?

Answer: All success is due to Allah.

The Board is of the view that it is impermissible to exempt the above committee from the rent on permanent basis, and it should be recorded annually so as to ascertain the continuity of the endowed estate. However, it is permissible for the Endowments Council, later on, to relieve that committee from the whole rent or part of it since the committee is using that estate for charitable causes which agrees with the vision and message of the Ministry of Endowments. Is it permissible to fish on Saturday?

All Perfect Praise be to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds, and may His Peace and Blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all of his family and companions. 

It is permissible for Muslims to fish on any day, but the sons of Israel are the ones forbidden to fish on Saturday. Moreover, there is no evidence in Islamic Sharia prohibiting Muslims from fishing on that day. And Allah Knows Best.

I joined a savings club and was scheduled to receive the payout first. My friend asked to take my place in line, so I requested 50 dinars in exchange for letting her have my turn. What is the ruling on this?
 
 
 
 
 

This is impermissible, as it involves taking money without providing something of value in return according to Islamic law. And Allah The Almighty Knows Best.

Is it permissible for a guardian (Big brother) to unlawfully stop his sister from getting married?

If the guardian denies her right in getting married for an unlawful reason, she should go to court in order to settle that matter, and the guardian is considered sinful in this case.

Is it lawful or unlawful to take payment of key money?

If the lease contract has expired and the lessor refrained from renewing it, then the tenant is obliged to leave the property for nothing. And Allah The Almighty Knows Best.
