Resolution No.(17)  by the Board of Iftaa`, Research and Islamic Studies:   
“Ruling on Investing Orphans` Funds in Development Bonds and Treasury Bills“
Date: 29/1/1411 AH, 20/8/1990 AD.

We have received the following question:
What is the  ruling of Sharia on investing the funds of orphans in development bonds and treasury bills?
Answer: All success is due to Allah.
The Board has decided that it is forbidden because it is a usury-based loan, and has attached the answer of Mr. Mostafa Az-zarqa in this regard. And Allah Knows Best.

What is the ruling on swearing a false oath by the Holy Quran?

Swearing a false oath by the Holy Quran dips the oath-taker in Hellfire, and one who had done so should turn to Allah in repentance, seek His forgiveness, give back rights to whom they belong, and pay the oath expiation.

I`m a building contractor. I have been building a house for a client, but the construction process stopped for some reason. Unfortunately, currently, prices of materials have multiplied, is it allowed for me to demand an increase in the agreed price?

Is it permissible to add the nutmeg to one`s food?

Using a little bit of the nutmeg for seasoning is permissible, but using a great deal of it is impermissible since it could lead to intoxication, and Islam has forbidden all intoxicants and stupefacients.

Is it lawful or unlawful to take payment of key money?

If the lease contract has expired and the lessor refrained from renewing it, then the tenant is obliged to leave the property for nothing. And Allah the Almighty knows best.
