General Iftaa` Department Wins King Abdullah II Award for Excellence in Government Performance and Transparency

The General Iftaa` Department won King Abdullah II Award for Excellence in Government Performance and Transparency (First position), as first-time participant, on Wednesday, fifth of Sept. 2018.

Dr Mufti Mohammad Al-Zou`bihas also won the King`s Award for theLeading Employee Category. 

Winners for the cycle 2017/2018 were announced during the ceremony heldunder the patronage of His majesty King Abdullah IIat the Royal Cultural Centre.

The Grand Mufti, Dr Mohammad Al-Khalayleh said that the Award came because of the tremendous effortsmade by the Muftis and other staff members. He added that it manifests the spirit of teamwork, which is encouraged by Sharia.

On its part, the Iftaa` Dept. has exerted ceaseless efforts in developing its services and clarifying the rulings of Sharia which reflect the bright image of Islam in line with the themes of the Amman Message and the sound thought of the Hashemite leadershipto help counter extremist views in our society.

The waiting period (iddah) of a divorced woman who is pregnant is until she gives birth. If she is of menstruating age, her waiting period is three menstrual cycles. If she does not menstruate, her waiting period is three months. And Allah Knows Best.

Is it permissible for us to sever ties of kinship if our blood-relatives` gatherings/meetings involve acts of sin?

Observing kinship ties is obligatory, and paying your blood-relatives a visit causing their sinful acts to be hindered , then you should do so. However, if their sinful acts continue while you are at their gathering and they didn't respond positively, then observing kinship ties via telephone and the like will suffice in this case. What is the Islamic ruling regarding a person finding buried treasure, whether gold or artifacts, and what is their share of it?

If the buried treasure is Islamic, it is considered Luqta (lost property), and the finder must announce it to locate its owner. If all efforts to find the owner fail, the finder may take ownership of it. If the treasure is non-Islamic and consists of gold or silver, zakat must be paid on it, which is one-fifth of its value. Absolute supererogatory prayer is forbidden to be performed at the times in which praying is disliked, and this also applies to Ihram and Istikhara prayers. However, there is no harm in offering prayers in Mekah during those times. And Allah Knows Best.
