Resolution No.(282)(18/2019), By The Board of Iftaa', Researches and Islamic Studies:

"Islamic Ruling on Shooting a Scene in a Cemetery"

Date: 25/Safar/1441 AH, corresponding to 24/10/2019 AD.

 

Praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds.

On its tenth session held on the above date, the Board reviewed the letter No.(2/1/1/12580) sent from His Excellency the Secretary General of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Awqaf Islamic Affairs and Holy Places Mr. Abdullah Al-Abbadi, and it reads as follows:

In reference to the letter of the Director of Production Services at the Royal Film Commission concerning shooting a scene in a cemetery in Swaileh area, could Your Grace explain the ruling of Sharia on that?

After careful consideration, the Board decided what follows:

If the scene to be filmed in the cemetery is confined to visiting a grave and reciting Al-Fatihah there then there is nothing wrong with that so long as the rules of visiting graves are adhered to. And Allah The Almighty Knows Best.

Is it permissible for a Muslim to escort his deceased disbelieving relative to his final resting place?

It is permissible provided that he doesn`t walk behind non-Islamic symbols, rather he should walk in front of them.

What is the stance of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah regarding the historical figure known as 'the Sufyani,' who some say will appear at the end of times? And what is the stance of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah regarding the group that killed Al-Husayn ibn Ali (may Allah be pleased with them), particularly those who directly committed the killing, severed his head, and killed members of his family?

Most of the narrations about the signs of the Hour concerning the Sufyani, who is said to appear before the Mahdi, indicate that he is the leader of the army that will invade the Kaaba, and Allah will cause the earth to swallow them. We disassociate ourselves before Allah from those who killed Al-Husayn Ibn Ali (may Allah be pleased with them), supported his killing, or encouraged it, whether openly or secretly. Does Istigfar (Asking Allah for forgiveness) between the first and the second part of Friday prayer`s sermon render the prayer invalid?

Talking during Friday prayer`s sermon is disliked, but there is no harm in offering Istigfar between the two parts of the sermon, and it doesn`t invalidate the prayer as it is actually from Sunnah. And Allah Knows Best.

Is it permissible to combine Zuhr and Asr prayers for being occupied with a wedding ceremony?

No, it isn`t permissible to combine Zuhr and Asr, or Maghrib and Isha because of being busy with a wedding since the exemption for combining prayers is based on lawful excuses, and this isn`t one of them. And Allah Knows Best.
