Resolution No.(112): “Giving Bonuses to the Employees of the Awqaf (Endowments) Funds Development Foundation from the Net Income of Waqf Estates“

Date: 23/7/1427 AH, corresponding to 17/8/2006 AD.

 

The Board received the following question:
What is the ruling of Islamic Sharia regarding the profits yielding from operating the savings bank`s funds of the staff of the Jordan Potash Company at Jordan Export and Finance Bank and Jordan Insurance Company?
Answer: All success is due to Allah
The Board is of the view that the aforementioned profits are unlawful, for Allah The Almighty Says in the Noble Quran (what means): “If ye do it not, Take notice of war from God and His Apostle: But if ye turn back, ye shall have your capital sums: Deal not unjustly, and ye shall not be dealt with unjustly.“ {Al-Baqarah/279}. Therefore, they should be disbursed in favor of the poor, the needy, and public interest. And Allah Knows Best.

Who should pay the Zakah (obligatory charity) from the orphan`s money?

His/her guardian, and if the latter fails to do so, then the orphan himself/herself is obliged to pay the Zakah once he/she reaches puberty, and is capable of handling his/her own affairs. And Allah Knows Best.

Is it permissible for a financially capable woman to pay the Zakat to her sons or one of them?

It is permissible for a mother to give her children from zakat if they are eligible to receive it, even though she is obligated to provide for them. This is based on the saying of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) regarding Zainab, the wife of Abdullah Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them): "Your husband and your children are more deserving of your charity" [Al-Bukhari]. What is the ruling on a woman shaking hands with the brothers of her husband`s father, and not putting on Islamic wear before them?

The aforesaid are strangers to the their brother`s son`s wife, therefore, it is forbidden for her to take off her Islamic wear before them, or to shake hands with them.

Is ablution invalidated when blood comes out of the nose, or a wound?

Blood coming out of the nose, or a wound does not invalidate ablution, but it is preferable to make ablution as a way out of the scholars disagreement in this regard.
