The Grand Mufti Commends the King`s Speech

 

 

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

 

All perfect praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds. May His peace and blessings be upon Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

It is an honor to commend the speech delivered by His Majesty King Abdullah before the UN General Assembly, warning against the danger and terrible effects of terrorism.

 

Today, the world is in a dire need for love, peace, mercy, justice, tolerance, equality, moderation and harmony. Allah the Almighty says {What means}: "but My mercy extendeth to all things." {Al-A`raf, 156}. These are the demands of His Majesty as an Arab Muslim leader from the Hashemite family and as a custodian of the Muslim as well as Christian holy sites.

 

I highly value the content of His Majesty`s speech and emphasize the following:

 

First: Terrorism and extremism can`t be addressed save through achieving justice and equality, ending injustice and transgression, holding the wrongdoers to account and helping the wronged.

 

Second: Acts of worship were legislated in Islam to acquaint a person with good morality and adherence to that regardless of circumstances. This is because these acts of worship should be reflected as good character that purifies one`s soul and disciplines one`s behavior with Allah and people so as not to stray from the right path. Allah says {What means}: "God commands justice, the doing of good, and liberality to kith and kin, and He forbids all shameful deeds, and injustice and rebellion: He instructs you, that ye may receive admonition." {An-Nahil, 90}. Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "If one does not eschew lies and false conduct, Allah has no need that he should abstain from his food and his drink."[Al-Bukhari].

 

Third: By virtue of the Hashemite custodianship over Muslim and Christian sanctities, we emphasize the right of the Palestinian people in their land and national soil as well as their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. We also emphasize respect for peaceful coexistence and humane and ethical treatment between peoples, and reject threats to which the holy sites are subjected.

 

Fourth: Verbal communication is of great importance as it leads to reaching levels of desired perfection. Moreover, communication by word and deed, at schools and universities and throughout every life aspects, wouldn`t be complete save with good word and eschewing indecency. Ibn Mas'ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "A true believer is not involved in taunting, or frequently cursing (others) or in indecency or abusing."[At-Tirmidhi]. Accordingly, upon communication, the good word is a charity.

 

Fifth: Hatred, rancor, extremism and terrorism are signs of ignorance and enmity towards Islam. Therefore, extremists will not rest until they do mischief, wreak havoc, kill, torture and burn.

Renouncing violence, extremism and Takfir (Accusing Muslims of disbelief) as well as purifying one`s-self from evil words and deeds is the essence of prayer and all acts of worship. A man asked the Prophet, “Which of the Muslims is best?” He replied, “He from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe.” {Bukhari}.

 

We pray that Allah bless our country with safety and security and spare it the scourge of trials and tribulations, be they revealed or concealed. And all perfect praise be to Allah the Lord of the worlds.

An internal medical examination for a woman invalidates the fast because it involves the entry of a foreign object into the body cavity (jauf) while fasting.
In this case, the woman must refrain from eating and drinking for the rest of the day out of respect for Ramadan and make up for the missed fast after Ramadan.
Such an examination should be avoided in Ramadan and other months unless absolutely necessary, as exposing the private parts is only permissible in cases of necessity.
If necessary, a woman should seek a Muslim female doctor first. If one is unavailable, she may see a female doctor from the People of the Book (Jews and Christians). If neither is available, she may consult a trustworthy and competent Muslim male doctor.

How should a person who is afflicted with continued major ritual impurity (incontinence of urine, bleeding outside the monthly period) perform ablution?

Such a person should make ablution for every prayer after its due time and after removing impurities from their body and outfit, and should place a fresh diaper whenever needed so as for the impurity not to spread out. They should also perform prayer immediately even if incontinence of urine continued, and should repeat the aforementioned for every obligatory prayer, then perform optional prayer as much as they want.

Is it permissible for a woman to wear underwear while performing Umrah?

Yes, it is permissible for a woman to wear underwear while performing Umrah. This is because she should keep her regular clothes that cover all her body while being in a state of Ihram (ritual consecration) for Hajj, or Umrah. However, she should uncover her face and hands, but it is permissible for her to let her head-covering garment drape from her head down over her face when non-Mahram (i.e., marriageable) men pass by her. And Allah Knows Best.

What is the wisdom behind legislating the Udhiyah?

The Muslim must know that through the Uḍḥiyah, he complies with the command of Allah, the Exalted, and performs a worship that brings him closer to Allah and distances him from the Fire.
 
The Uḍḥiyah holds profound wisdoms and noble meanings, including:
 
1-Reviving the Sunnah of Abraham, peace be upon him: He complied with Allah's command when He ordered him to slaughter his son Ishmael. Abraham, peace be upon him, succeeded in the test, and when he was about to slaughter his son, Allah sent down a ram to ransom Ishmael and commanded him to slaughter it instead. Allah, the Exalted, says {what means]: "And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, 'O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think.' He said, 'O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast.' And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead, We called to him, 'O Abraham, You have fulfilled the vision.' Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. Indeed, this was the clear trial. And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice." [Al-Ṣāffāt/102-107]. Thus, the sacrificial offering became an enduring Sunnah until the Day of Judgment, and Muslims offer their wealth as sacrifices, drawing closer to Allah, the Exalted, reviving this great Sunnah.
 
2-Providing abundance for people on Eid day and the Days of Tashrīq: Among the wisdoms of the Uḍḥiyah is that the Muslim provides generously for his family, neighbors, relatives, and the poor during these days. The Muslim is encouraged to eat from his sacrifice, give charity from it to the poor, and gift from it to his wealthy neighbors. Thus, goodness spreads throughout the entire community. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The Days of Tashrīq are days of eating and drinking." (Narrated by Muslim). Allah, the Exalted, says {what means}: "And the camels and cattle We have appointed for you as among the symbols of Allah; for you therein is good." [Al-Ḥajj/36]. This good includes the good of both this world and the Hereafter.
