Subject : Responsibility of Raising the Awareness of Family Members Regarding their Rights of Inheritance

Fatwa Number : 719

Date : 10-05-2010

Classified : "Wills and Obligations"in Inheritance

Fatwa Type : Search Fatawaa

Question :

Is the religion responsible for raising women`s and children`s awareness regarding their rights of inheritance and how can religion perform this task using school textbooks and Friday Sermons?

The Answer :

All perfect praise be to Allah the Lord of The Worlds. May His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

Islam is a just, comprehensive religion covering all aspects of a Muslim`s life and whoever learns the rulings of Sharia realizes their rights and obligations, but whoever turns their back to this religion is at loss both in this life and the next. As for women`s and children`s rights regarding inheritance, this subject is taught in school textbooks. However, if the heir is a minor or hasn`t reached the age of puberty, then the Islamic judge keeps his wealth with the Orphans Fund Development Foundation until he/she becomes responsible and disposes of his/her property as he/she likes. And Allah the Almighty Knows Best.
