Resolution No.(85) by the Board of Iftaa`, Research and Islamic Studies:

“Ruling on Exemption from the Rent of an Endowed Estate“

Date: 26/2/1426 AH, corresponding to 6/4/2005 AD.

 

 

 

 

Question:

What is the ruling of Sharia on the request submitted by the Committee of Mosques and Charitable Projects in which it seeks to be exempted from the rent due on the basement of Abulkasim`s Mosque, which it uses as a rehabilitation centre for the Jordanian young women?

Answer: All success is due to Allah.

The Board is of the view that it is impermissible to exempt the above committee from the rent on permanent basis, and it should be recorded annually so as to ascertain the continuity of the endowed estate. However, it is permissible for the Endowments Council, later on, to relieve that committee from the whole rent or part of it since the committee is using that estate for charitable causes which agrees with the vision and message of the Ministry of Endowments. What is the Islamic ruling on breaking the bones of the 'aqīqah?

All praise is due to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon our Master, the Messenger of Allah.
It is Sunnah not to break the bones of the 'aqīqah. Rather, each bone should be separated at its joint — as a good omen and expression of hope for the soundness and wholeness of the newborn's limbs. However, if one does break the bones, it is not considered disliked (makrūh) — it is simply regarded as contrary to what is preferable (khilāf al-awlā). And Allah Almighty knows best.

Why was the exact date of Laylat al-Qadr concealed?

The wisdom behind this is to encourage Muslims to strive in worship throughout all the nights of Ramadan, or at least in the last ten nights. By doing so, they will earn the reward of observing Laylat al-Qadr as well as the reward of worshiping on other blessed nights.

Where should a woman following her husband or another man in prayer stand?

If a single woman prays with a man—whether she is his wife or a non-mahram (Ajnabiyyah)—the Sunnah is for her to stand behind the Imam and be shielded by him. If the Imam is leading both a man and a woman, the man should stand to the Imam's right, and the woman should stand behind the male follower (Muqtadi). In this way, she is shielded from the Imam by the male follower and remains at a distance from the follower and his line of sight. And Allah the Exalted knows best.

Does passing wind from the anus affect ritual purity?

Ablution is nullified by the passing of wind from the anus, but washing the anus is not required as wind leaves no impurity.
