• Is Zakah(obligatory charity) due on the money saved for marriage?
Zakah is due on the money saved for marriage if it reached the Nissab(minimum amount liable for Zakah), and a whole lunar year had lapsed over possessing it.
• Does ill-gotten money hinder the answering of the Du`a(supplication) and the means of subsistence?
Sins hinder the answering of the Du`a, and deprive the sinner from means of subsistence; whereas, acts of obedience facilitate making a living. Allah, The Almighty, says in the Holy Quran: “And for those who fear God, He (ever) prepares a way out. And He provides for him from (sources) he never could imagine.”{At-Talaq/2-3}.
• Is it permissible for the man to go out wearing shorts?
It is permissible as long as his Awrah(private part), which is between his navel and knee, is covered. However, the regular wear traditions and modesty are to be observed.
• There is a job opportunity in the Nuns Hospital. Is it allowed for me to take this job given the difficult living conditions and the high rate of unemployment?
If your work is lawful and has no effect on your beliefs, then there is no sin on you and do your best to represent the true face of Islam. And Allah the Almighty knows best.
