Question :

We are a charitable organization delegated by Jordanian citizens to slaughter their Udhiyahs in the morning of the first day of Eid al-Adha. We provide Udhiyahs against a reasonable price that suits the economic condition of most Jordanians. This is provided that the animals are slaughtered in another country over the four days of Eid al-Adha, then the animals are delivered to their owners packed and frozen, excluding the head, feet, and skin. Is this permissible or not?

The Answer :

All perfect praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds. May His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

It is permissible to slaughter Udhiyahs in another country on behalf of their owners. This is provided that the Sharia conditions in terms of the animal`s age and time of slaughtering, and the like are met.

It is also permissible to delay distributing the meat of Udhiyahs among the eligible recipients, however, a portion of that meat must be divided amongst the poor. This is attested to in the following verse: "The sacrificial camels we have made for you as among the symbols from God: in them is (much) good for you: then pronounce the name of God over them as they line up (for sacrifice): when they are down on their sides (after slaughter), eat ye thereof, and feed such as (beg not but) live in contentment, and such as beg with due humility: thus have We made animals subject to you, that ye may be grateful." {Al-Haj, 36}.

Slaughtering the Udhiyah outside Jordan benefits the poor through increasing the number of the slaughtered animals. Similarly, it is beneficial to the person offering the Udhiyah because the price of the animal is cheaper. And Allah the Almighty knows best and guides to the straight path.  And Allah The Almighty Knows Best
