Question :

Is there a Hadith reported on the authority of Ali bin Abi Talib (May Allah honor/exalt his face) which means that whoever keeps the names of the Prophet Mohammad (Peace and blessings be upon him) at home will be protected against diseases, ordeals, evil eye, sorcery, poverty, poison....etcetera?

The Answer :

All perfect praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds. May His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

This Hadith has no origin in the books of Sunnah and wasn`t reported by any of the Muslim scholars. Obviously, this Hadith is fabricated because there is a great deal of exaggeration as regards the virtues of keeping the names of the Prophet Mohammad (Peace and blessings be upon him) at home. In addition, no authentic Hadith has ever been reported about the reward of keeping these names at one`s home. Rather, authentic Hadiths have just mentioned these honorable names. However, there is no sin in keeping them as a blessing since Imam Malik (May Allah have mercy on him) said {What means}: "Every home in which the name of the Prophet Mohammad (Peace and blessings be upon him) exists, its people will receive good provisions." And Allah The Almighty Knows Best.
