All perfect praise be to Allah the Lord of The Worlds. May His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.
Professional and academic titles are designations given to individuals to indicate their profession, scientific specialization, expertise, academic or professional qualifications, or their membership in a specific professional association. These titles are used to distinguish individuals in their field of work and to give an impression of their qualifications and experience.
It is therefore impermissible to grant these titles except to those who deserve them, and only by the entities authorized to do so. In essence, this act is a form of testifying to the competence of the person being granted the title. Allah the Almighty says {what means}: "Their testimony will be recorded, and they will be questioned."[Az-Zukhrouf/19].  Granting a title to someone who does not deserve it, or by an entity not authorized to do so, constitutes impersonation of others. This is a clear act of falsehood, deception, and sin. The Master of the Messengers, Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever deceives [others] is not of me." [Narrated by Muslim] It is also among the actions punishable by law.
In conclusion, it is not permissible to grant academic or professional titles to those who are undeserving, nor is it permissible for unauthorized entities to grant them. This is due to the involvement of falsehood, deception, false testimony, and violation of the law. And Allah the Almighty knows best.
