Question :

Is it permissible to take the meat of the Aqeeqah after slaughtering it, and leave the rest of it ( such as the wool, the skin .etc. ) to the butcher in return for a cut in its price ?

The Answer :

All perfect praise be to Allah. Blessings and peace be upon Prophet Mohammad and upon his family and companions.

It is impermissible to sell any part of the Aqeeqah (An animal slaughtered for the new born) to the butcher, or anyone else; whether it is the skin, the intestines, or else. It is also impermissible to give him any of it as a wage for slaughtering , or as a part of its price parallel to the ruling on the Udhhiyah.

Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) narrated:“ The Prophet ordered me to supervise the (slaughtering) of Budn (Hadi camel) and to distribute their meat, skins and covering sheets in charity and not to give anything (of their bodies) to the butcher as wages for slaughtering. He said: (I will give him his wages)” {Bukhari&Muslim}.

It was stated in [Bushra Al-Kareem]: “ It is impermissible to sell any of it (the voluntary sacrifice), or to give the butcher from it as wages; even its skin….The Aqeeqah is similar to the Udhhiyah (Sacrifice in Eid-ul-Adha) in terms of: age, sex, intactness, the intention, being obligatory in case of a vow, the owner can`t eat from it if it was an obligation, giving from it to charity.. etc.”

However, it is permissible to give the butcher from it as a gift, or a charity. And Allah knows best.
