Question :

A friend of mine works as the manager of a grand tourist hotel in the Arab Gulf. In this hotel, alcoholic drinks, swine and other abominations are served. My friend has nothing to do with these items for he neither buys, touches nor serves them for he just signs the gap list. Upon concluding his marriage contract, his fiancée stipulated that he should quit his job or else he should grant her divorce. What is the ruling of Sharia on this?

The Answer :

All perfect praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds. May His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

Working as manager of hotel in which alcoholic drinks are served is forbidden, because this is helping in sin and a portion of this person`s salary is unlawful.  In case he refused to quit his job as his fiancée had stipulated in their marriage contract, then she may file for divorce although she doesn`t have to. And Allah the Almighty Knows Best.
