All perfect praise be to Allah, Lord of all Creations, and may His peace and blessings be upon our Master Prophet Mohammad and all his companions and folks.
Sharia has obliged all children to be dutiful and kind to the parents; especially when the latter are in real need for that. Accordingly, they are equally required to serve them as best as they could, just as they are obliged to spend on them.
This is part of being kind and dutiful to the parents, as ordered by Almighty Allah Who said, " and that ye be kind to parents.."{Al-Isra`}. Ibn Ashour said this kindness can be embodied in words, acts, provision and comfort. Article(197) of the Jordanian Civil Status Code stated, "A- A solvent person , male or female, old or young, is obliged to spend on their parents, even if they have the means to earn. B- If the son was insolvent, but had the means to earn, then he is obliged to spend on his poor parents, and if he doesn`t have a surplus after spending on himself, wife and children, then he is obliged to feed and house them with his family.
The same applies to the daughter." We advise all persons, males and females, to be kind and dutiful to their parents in order to please Allah, The Almighty. And Allah knows best.
