Question :

What is the ruling on using incense with Ruqyah (Quranic recitation over patient)?

The Answer :

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds, and may His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all of his family and companions.

There is no proof in the Quran and the Sunnah nor mentioned by jurists that incense is used with Ruqyah or helps to cure envy and magic. Further, it isn’t permissible for a Muslim to believe that such materials have the power to cure without having Sharia or rational proof since Islam is the religion of real science and clear mind.

But, if the Ruqyah was recited over the incense and they gave beneficial results, then it is because of the Ruqyah not the incense. However, we have already clarified the method of Ruqyah in Fatwa No. (672). And Allah The Almighty knows best.
