Question :

We work for a certain company where the main place of prayer, which is located at the basement, could take up to a hundred persons. However, there are two other places at the fifth and eighth floors, and each could take up to twenty-five persons. Does praying at these two floors have the same reward of joining the bigger congregation? Should we pray at the main place of prayer as much as possible?

The Answer :

All perfect praise be to Allah The Lord of the Worlds and may His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

Congregational prayer offered at various places of prayer has the same reward, and it isn`t conditioned that one should pray at a mosque or a main place of prayer to attain the full reward of the congregation. However, it is better (Greater in reward) to join the larger congregation since the greater the number of worshippers, the greater the reward. This is because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “A man’s prayer with one other man is better than his praying alone, and a man’s prayer with two other men is better than his praying with one other. The more there are the more beloved that is to Allah.” {Realted by Abu Dawoud }. And Allah Knows Best.
