Resolution No.(149), (14/2010) by the Board of Iftaa`, Research and Islamic Studies:

"Ruling on Consuming a Product Extracted from Crocodile Bones"

Date: 2/9/1431 A.H, corresponding to 12/8/2010 A.D

 

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

During its ninth session held on the above given date, the Board reviewed the following question:

Question: What is the ruling on consuming a food supplement extracted from crocodile bones?

Answer: After extensive deliberating, the Board decided what follows:

It is permissible to consume products that contain substances extracted from crocodile flesh or bone based on the Malikite Madhab (school of thought) and one narration of the Shafites and the Hanbalites, who permit eating crocodiles. And Allah Knows Best.

Is it permissible for a woman to give the ransom (Fidyah) for breaking her fast to her granddaughter (her son`s daughter)?

Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon our Master, the Messenger of Allah.
 
It is permissible for a woman to give the ransom (Fidya) for breaking her fast in Ramadan to her granddaughter (her son’s daughter), provided that the girl is poor and her basic needs are not being met by the maintenance (Nafaqah) of those who are lislamically obligated to provide for her. And Allah the Exalted knows best.

What is the expiation for perjury?

Perjury is forbidden and one of the major sins that require turning to Allah in repentance, seeking His forgiveness, giving back rights to whom they belong, or seeking their forgiveness, and expiating for that oath.

Is it permissible for a husband to stop his wife from visiting her family?

A husband shouldn`t stop his wife from visiting her family, and it is disliked for him to do so because such an act makes them harbor feelings of hatred against him.

Does swallowing a fly, road dust, or flour dust break the fast?

A fasting person does not break their fast if something enters their body cavity against their will, such as a fly, road dust, or flour dust.
