Question :

Is it permissible to download a copy from the Holy Quran (from the internet) in order to ease reading it by people and without being revised by authorized specialists? And what is due on reading from unaccredited copy?

The Answer :

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds, and may His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all of his family and companions.

The Holy Quran is the scripture of Allah revealed on Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), whereas jurists define it as:" The utterance revealed on Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a miracle and its recitation is an act of worship." [Sharih Al-Mahali Ala' Jamie' Al-Jwamae' vol.1 pp.290]

One of the modern issues emerges at our time, what it is known by E-Mus-haf which is considered a digital electronic technology with different forms, which differ according to the files by which E-Mus-haf program was set. In addition, many websites provide this service, but some of them don't observe documentation which should be on the basis of revision and accurate correction.

Further, if it was intended to read or download the E-Mus-haf,  a Muslim should seek the adopted trustworthy websites which maintain accuracy, publishing an E-Mus-haf identical to the hard copy without addition, omission or misspelling of the Holy Quran's letters , diacritics, proper order of chapters and verses beside other characteristics. Also, he should be aware of the E-Mus-haf copies that contradict the previous restrictions intentionally or unintentionally.

Therefore, admins in charge of similar websites must be assure that the E-Mus-haf is identical to the hard copy adopted by appropriate authorities in the Islamic countries in order to keep the Holy Quran faultless. And Allah the Almighty knows best.
