Question :

Is it permissible to give Zakah to an Islamic radio station in order for the latter to divide it among the eight kinds of people eligible to receive it?

May Allah`s peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.


There are government organizations in charge of collecting Zakah funds and dividing them among the eight eligible recipients stated in At-Tawbah Chapter, Verse 60. Therefore, there is no need to deputize other institutions to perform this task. However, the station mentioned in the above question could coordinate with the afore-organizations to deliver Zakah to eligible recipients. And Allah the Almighty Knows Best.
