Question :

A commercial institution published a side photo of Mosque or a religious premise showing a faience statement that says " Muhammad is the honest and truthful messenger of Allah" in addition of publishing another statement "Ali is the friend of Allah". What is the ruling on this from Sharia perspective?

The Answer :

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds, and may His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all of his family and companions.

"Without a prior assumption, Muhammad is the truthful and honest messenger of Allah". This statement is written on the fence surrounding Prophet's Muhammad sacred chamber at Medina, and it is permissible to be used in this manner according to the majority of Muslim scholars.

As for the statements which says "Ali is the friend of Allah" is also correct, this because Allah, The Almighty Says (What means): "Lo! verily the friends of Allah are (those) on whom fear (cometh) not, nor do they grieve ?, Those who believe and keep their duty (to Allah)." [62/63 Yunus].

Furthermore, without a prior assumption, Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) is one of the pious believers according to the consensus of Muslim scholars, so there is nothing wrong in this statement. However, using the aforementioned statements to promote an economic is impropriate, because the name of Allah, prophets, friends of Allah and pious people should be kept unviolated from degrading, due to the fact that newspapers contain a lot of respected names and usually they are thrown into trash.

Therefore, the aforementioned institution should avoid using the aforementioned statements in promoting their goods, because whosoever fear Allah, the hearts of people will be subjected to him by the Will of Allah. And Allah The Almighty Knows Best.
