Question :

What do you think of obtaining a certificate in Islamic Knowledge? Would you bestow such certificate upon me as a blessing; knowing that I`m a student of Sharia Knowledge and have obtained certificates from a dozen scholars?

The Answer :

Praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds.

The method adopted in granting certificates in Sharia knowledge is sound where a student receives such certificate after obtaining knowledge from his teacher (Sheikh) where the latter certifies that the former has acquired Sharia knowledge and is of good conduct. Nowadays, modern certificates are granted by academic institutions after a student takes certain courses and sits for an exam. This is what our Sheikhs have granted us. We weren`t granted, like others, general certificates as a blessing. Indeed, the certificate of Our Lord Suffices for He the Almighty Said (What means): "And who is better in speech than him who prayeth unto his Lord and doeth right, and saith: Lo! I am of those who are Muslims (surrender unto Him)." {Fussilat, 33}. This is in addition to the certificate granted by of our beloved Messenger (PBUH) who said, "Convey from me even an Ayah of the Qur'an" {Related by Bukhari}. And may Allah the Almighty Grant us success. And Allah The Almighty Knows Best.
